How the data is prepared
Public AFDC station records are collected as monthly snapshots.
Records are normalized into consistent state, network, and county views.
Plug counts are aggregated so periods stay comparable over time.
California ZIP codes are mapped to counties for local analysis.
Every summary table is published as a downloadable CSV.
Publishing the intermediate files matters as much as the charts: anyone can audit a figure, reproduce a
comparison, or extend the analysis with their own methods.

Every figure traces back to a public source.
Evasta is built entirely on open data. The sources, rights, and refresh cadence are listed below so any
number on this site can be checked against its origin.
Data source
Electric vehicle charging station data is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels
Data Center. California-specific ZEV and infrastructure statistics are also informed by the California
Energy Commission's Zero Emission Vehicle and Infrastructure Statistics Collection.
The data is public and is used with attribution to the originating agencies.
